Registrars Report

10/11/10
The following is a summary of the registration statistics.
• The conference was oversubscribed by the March 10th postmarked deadline with 304 applicants. Several more came in after that. We also had several inquiries about space after the deadline and those I directed to other conferences so while we had more interested people, they never actually applied.
• Our total number of applicants was 335.
• We talked with SIC about expanding the number of admitted conferees and came to an agreement on 276.
• On June 26 (the conference start date) we had 270 registered conferees. We had a flurry of late cancellations. This made it possible for the conference to have a few overnight guests.
• We contacted other conferences and worked with interested conferees to move guests to other conferences. The other registrars were very helpful and welcoming. Some were moved to All Star II and some preferred to remain on our waitlist.
• By the conference time we technically had 24 people on our waitlist, but by the time of the late cancellations they couldn’t come on such short notice.
• We had several new families which were encouraged to come by existing conferees. The 10-10 promotion offered by SIC was very helpful in this area.
• Financial assistance was used by 44 attending conferees.
• Of the people on our waitlist, all but one had a previous relationship to the Island or the conference or was encouraged to come by an All Star I person. It seems the word of mouth and/or personal invitation is the key to our recruiting.
• For next year we have already had a number of inquiries about the date and interest in coming from people with a Star Island connection who haven’t been to our conference ever or in a long time.
