Theme: Making Sense of Our Media Matrix: Understanding our 21st Century Media Culture

Bring your family to All Star I for a week of great kid’s activities and interesting adult lectures, conversations and fun. Our speaker will explore the relationship between our 21st century media culture and the human brain, look at the hot (and often controversial) new trends shaping our communications culture.

Dr. Rob Williams will conduct an open-ended and interactive multimedia series of talks entitled “Making Sense of Our Media Matrix: Understanding Our 21st Century Media Culture.” Together, we’ll explore the relationship between our 21st century media culture and the human brain, look at the hot (and often controversial) new trends shaping our communications culture, and the pros and cons of Web 2.0 “emergent media” – micro-blogging (Twitter and Blogger) social media platforms (Facebook) and video sharing (YouTube). We’ll also equip ourselves with intellectual tools for media self-defense by exploring the language and skills we all need to deepen our understanding of media’s power. And most importantly, we’ll have fun!
