Children’s Program

Our exciting Children’s Program is the cornerstone of our week-long conference. Designed and developed over many years to meet the needs of all our young Shoalers, from babes in arms to high school seniors, it is led by experienced and dedicated staff who will guide your children through the week during two daily sessions. Kids will meet with their age groups for two hours every morning, and for an hour and a half on most afternoons.

Activities include a trip to our Art Barn, where two creative leaders will provide exciting artistic projects and visits to the Marine Lab where touch tanks, holding tanks, and enticing displays are a source of delight for all ages. Children will participate with their group (and sometimes individually, if they choose) in our Children’s Stunt Show, where they will take to the stage to perform their skits and songs before an enthusiastic audience. And don’t forget the traditional Marshmallow Roast and Sing Along, the 4th of July flag raising and lawn games, the conferee softball game, and All Star 1’s unique Great People Hunt! These are just a few of the many ways in which we nurture our youngsters throughout the week.

Groups

Children of all ages, up to and including youth who are still in high school, are required to attend all class sessions. Kids are divided into eight or nine age and grade appropriate groups and each group has their own classroom space.  The youngest age group is supervised by three loving leaders (and many lingering grandparents!) while all other groups have two experienced teachers per class. Projects, games, songs and group-building activities will be an integral part of the week-long fun.

Housing

Our youngest children, from infancy until age 8, share rooms with or adjoining their parents and siblings, and are housed on the second floor of the Oceanic Hotel. Kids enjoy being in close proximity to their friends while their parents bond over the joys and challenges of raising a family. Children who are 9, 10 and 11 are sometimes housed with their friends, but always with their parents in adjacent rooms, and are on the third floor of the Hotel. Youth who are 12 and 13 are housed dormitory fashion, with parents in
adjacent rooms. Junior Teens and Senior Teens are housed in Gosport, also dormitory style, with many parents close enough by to offer guidance, but far enough down the hall to give these teens a degree of independence. Bedtimes are established and adhered to for all age groups, allowing parents to engage in a multitude of activities in the evenings.

All activities and inter-generational events are geared toward creating memories that will last, and developing friendships which will endure. This is sure to be an unforgettable week for all kids, and their parents, too!

We strive to have a positive week for everyone and to this end the All Star I Community has created a Code of Mutual Respect and Safety which now includes a new All Star I Youth Alcohol and Other Drugs Policy.
